We went to the presentation night for our local homeschooling group this year. This was the first one we had attended.
It was a wonderful show. There were families that performed skits, sang songs, played instruments, and gave speeches. It was full of great entertainment. I couldn't believe how many extremely talented children we have within our homeschooling community.
Warning: This is my bragging moment!
They had a woman from our local newspaper there and she gave out a few award certificates for good newsletter article entries. Our 9 year old was one of them! The reporter asked Olivia to read the article on the stage but she was too shy. So the reporter read it and critiqued it, then handed Olivia a gift bag full of great goodies. It was a journalism kit full of notebooks, pens, a book on how to write great stories, letter opener, a water bottle, coffee mug, and a candy bar. The article that was chosen was one Olivia had written on a field trip to the National Guard Armory last fall. Olivia said it was great motivation to write more articles.
They also announced sports awards and Olivia received one for most improved athlete. This was a pretty big deal since this was her first year doing soccer and volleyball. She had done basketball before but she made great improvements on her skills this year. She received a certificate and a king size candy bar for her wonderful improvements in sports.
The presentation night was great for all the children. It gave them the credit that they all deserved for doing such an awesome job all year in their academics as well as their extra curricular activities.

We haven't gotten to a Presentation night yet- they just happen to fall at a busy time of year for us. I was glad to hear about what all went on, thanks!
Char, just so you know you ditched me that night! They called the board members up on stage and you weren't there to stand with me in front of everyone. It was nice, Terry gave the women beautiful red and orange carnations and the men got a candy bar. As much as I love being in front of a large group of people I wish you would have been there!
Oh sorry! That would have been nice. :-) I didn't know they were going to do that. We were just worn out from the Revival at Pilot Rock and Brett worked until late. :-( I was hoping to have a dinner together- but it was not to be!
